AN EXAMINATION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTION IN STILLWATER (OKLAHOMA)

 The aim of this study is to examine physical education instruction in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The study was conducted between February and May 2026. First, official documents and websites related to the U.S. National Physical Education Curriculum, Oklahoma State Physical Education Standards, and the National Federation of State High School Associations were reviewed. Second, the teaching methods of physical education teachers, as well as school sports facilities and equipment, were examined. Third, interviews were conducted with volunteer physical education teachers and coaches at different educational levels. In the United States, there is a comprehensive and multidimensional system of physical education and sports that extends from primary school to high school. At the primary level, physical education focuses on developing fundamental movement skills and increasing physical activity. At the secondary level, it aims to develop various sport-specific skills and further promote physical activity. Diversity in sports participation is encouraged, and specialization in sports is recommended at later stages rather than at an early age.
