Code and data for the article “Does metro rail operation reduce corridor NO2? Satellite evidence from Dhaka” (Islam, Fabia, Rihan and Mimi; submitted). The study evaluates whether passenger operation of Dhaka’s MRT Line-6 (northern segment opened 29 December 2022, southern segment 5 November 2023) changed tropospheric NO2 along the corridor, using native Sentinel-5P TROPOMI Level-2 pixels (official reprocessing v2.4.0 followed by OFFL v2.5+), a native-footprint audit, a rule-based control inventory, and a staggered event study with placebo-calibrated, equivalence-framed inference.
Contents: code.zip – the scripted pipeline (redesign/01-16), document builders, README with run order, pinned environment (environment.yml) and lock files, data dictionary (DATA_DICTIONARY.md) and licence. data_native_pixels_RPRO.zip – every valid native TROPOMI pixel intersecting each spatial unit, one file per month (July 2018-December 2025), plus station pixels. data_inputs_and_panels.zip – unit geometries (GeoJSON), rule-based candidate inventory, balance covariates, OpenStreetMap major-road extract, monthly panels, processor audit, Google Earth Engine daily sensitivity series and the original line, station and control shapefiles. results_tables_figures.zip – supplementary tables S1-S19, all figures, event-study, placebo and sensitivity outputs, the key-numbers file and the manuscript number audits.
Reproduction: run the scripts in redesign/ in numerical order as listed in redesign/README.md. Google Earth Engine and NASA Earthdata credentials are required only for the two download steps (02 and 05). Data sources: Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2018-2025), distributed by the NASA GES DISC; ESA WorldCover 2020; WorldPop 2020; VIIRS night-time lights; road network (c) OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Code is released under the MIT licence.
