“Population Viability Analysis of the Western Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) Population of Loma Mountains National Park, Sierra Leone, West Africa.”
The repository contains the primary quantitative inputs and demographic parameters used to conduct the Population Viability Analysis (PVA) implemented in VORTEX v10.6.0.
Files included:
LMNP_Chimpanzee_Transect_Data.xlsx
This file contains the empirical population and survey data used to inform baseline population size estimates and contextualize demographic trends in Loma Mountains National Park (LMNP). Variables include transect-derived estimates and related field-based population metrics.LMNP_Chimpanzee_PVA_Model_Parameters.xlsx
This file contains the demographic and anthropogenic parameters used to parameterize the VORTEX simulations, including:Age-specific mortality rates
Reproductive parameters
Initial population structure
Hunting pressure assumptions and multiplier-based extraction estimates
Deforestation and habitat change scenarios
Catastrophic disease assumptions
All parameter values, assumptions, sources, and ranges correspond to those reported in the manuscript tables and methodology section.
These files provide full transparency regarding the demographic assumptions and threat scenarios used to simulate population trajectories under baseline and alternative management scenarios.
The simulations were conducted over a 50-year time horizon with 100 iterations per scenario. Extinction was defined as the loss of either sex within the population.
No sensitive location data or individual-level identifiers are included in this dataset.
