1. Measurement setup & methodology

This dataset contains simultaneous recordings of a MEMS cantilever sensor and a reference microphone in response to controlled acoustic stimuli. The experiment investigates sound source localization using interaural level differences (ILD) and evaluates the contribution of a neuromorphic MEMS cochlea sensor with nonlinear characteristics.

  • Recordings from:

    • Two independent MEMS cantilever channels

    • One reference microphone

  • Stimulus: Pure sine wave played for 2 seconds.

    • Cantilever recordings: Only the final 1 second is saved to avoid transient responses

    • Microphone recordings: Full 2 seconds are saved

  • Frequencies Tested: Two distinct frequencies were tested, selected to be near the resonance frequency of each cantilever (950 Hz and 986 Hz).

  • Feedback Sweep: Measurements were repeated at various feedback strengths ($a_f$), expressed as a percentage of the critical feedback amplitude ($a_crit$), ranging from 0 to 0.8.

  • Sampling Rates

    • DAQ: 100 kHz

    • Microphone: 32 kHz

  • Software Environment: MATLAB 2022a

2. Folder & File Structure

The dataset is organized into two main categories:

  • daq/ – MEMS cantilever sensor recordings

  • microphone/ – Reference microphone recordings
