Abstract:

In the present study, 216 specimens were analysed using paleoproteomics (MALDI-FTICR and LC-MS/MS). The objective of this study is to distinguish between the species Cylindraspis trisserata et . inepta.

Material:

The Paul Carié collection from the Elbeuf museum contains 216 Cylindraspis subfossils.

Details: 58 cranial elements, 57 mandibles, 81 vertebrae, three isolated shell fragments, two long limb bones and finally ten bones for which anatomical region could not be determined due to their poor state of preservation.

MALDI-FTICR and LC-MS/MS

Zooarchaeology by Mass Spectrometry (ZooMS) analysis of the 216 samples was performed on the Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance (MALDI-FTICR)

The validation of the peptide sequences of the ZooMS markers was performed on 23 samples using LC-MS/MS (Bray et al., 2023a).

Data deposited

MALDI FTICR spectra, csv file and metadata
