About Medicni Perspektivi
Medicni Perspektivi — Journal Profile
Medicni Perspektivi (in the journal's own ISSN title form, Medičnì perspektivi; in English, Medical Perspectives) is a Ukrainian peer-reviewed medical journal published since 1996 by Dnipro State Medical University in Dnipro, Ukraine. It is a quarterly, open access journal publishing original research across clinical medicine, diagnostics and disease prevention, in Ukrainian and English, and it holds category "A" standing in Ukraine's national system for specialist scientific journals — the highest band in that system. A university journal of nearly thirty years' standing, it is one of the working research outlets of Ukrainian academic medicine: the place where the staff and postgraduate researchers of a large medical university, and their colleagues across Ukraine and abroad, publish clinical and experimental findings for a readership that is checked, quite literally, by the national attestation system that governs academic careers in Ukraine.
The JournalsWorld record behind this profile named the publisher as a bare numeric code and compressed the journal to a quartile label. The verified identity is precise. The print ISSN is 2307-0404 and the online ISSN is 2786-4804; the abbreviated key title is Med. perspekt.; the founder is Dnipro State Medical University; the editorial office sits at 9 Volodymyra Vernadskoho Street, Dnipro, 49044, Ukraine; and the journal's own site is medpers.dmu.edu.ua, with a parallel journal portal record on the Ukrainian journals platform at journals.uran.ua. Everything in this profile is anchored to that record and to sources fetched for it.

History and Institutional Setting
The journal has been published since 1996, which places its founding in the first decade of Ukrainian independence, when the country's medical universities were building their own research periodicals for a national scholarly system. Since 1999 it has been recognised by the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine as a specialised scientific journal — recognition that matters concretely in Ukraine, because publications in recognised specialist journals count toward doctoral and professorial qualifications. Its current category "A" standing was conferred by order No. 1188 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 24 September 2020, as the journal's own pages state. The publishing institution has itself changed name during the journal's life: by Order No. 473 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine of 16 March 2021, the state institution "Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" was renamed Dnipro State Medical University, and the journal's pages carefully record that renaming, because the founder's legal name appears in its registration. Readers meeting the academy name in older records — including in OpenAlex's host-organisation field, which still gives the academy's name — are meeting the same institution under its former title, not a different publisher.
The journal's open access policy, stated on its home page, is that full-text articles have been readable in PDF on the journal's website since 2005 — an early adoption date for a university journal in the region, and one that shapes how the title is used today: its backfile is a genuinely open clinical literature in Ukrainian and English, two decades deep. The journal also maintains the unglamorous infrastructure of a national serial: its librarians page lists the state and national libraries to which it is regularly distributed, from the National Library of Ukraine named after V. I. Vernadsky to the Book Chamber of Ukraine, the legal-deposit spine that keeps a Ukrainian serial catalogued and preserved.
Scope and Content
The journal states its aim as publishing high-quality research articles that reflect current advances and address relevant scientific challenges in medicine, nationally and internationally, and its information-for-authors material defines the content as original articles reporting research on contemporary issues in clinical practice, the diagnosis and prevention of human diseases. That is a general-medical scope, and the published record bears it out. Recent articles on its portal include a clinical and psychometric study of asthenia in foreign applicants for medical education at different stages of training; a study of the effectiveness of noncommunicable disease prevention in a regional context, built on WHO and national data sources; and an investigation of arterial stiffness and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in patients with chronic kidney disease and arterial hypertension. The pattern is characteristic: clinical studies from university departments, public-health analyses grounded in Ukrainian regional data, and medical-education research — the three natural products of a medical university's research life. OpenAlex's topic grouping of the journal's content (source S4210233393, resolved from its ISSNs for this profile) is led by asthma and respiratory diseases, human health and disease, and chronic disease topics, a computational shadow of the same clinical breadth.
For authors, the practical reading of this scope is as follows. The journal is a home for sound original clinical and experimental work, for regional epidemiology and public-health studies — especially those using Ukrainian data that international journals often find too local — and for research on medical education, a subject on which its host university is itself an interested party. It is not a review journal and not a case-report vehicle; its articles are research reports with the apparatus of method, results and references that its category "A" status presupposes. Manuscripts are accepted in electronic form, as its authors' information states, and may be written in Ukrainian or English; English-language submission is the natural choice for authors seeking the journal's international indexing to work for them.
Metrics — Verified Figures, Attributed
OpenAlex (source S4210233393, resolved in the foreground from ISSN 2786-4804 for this profile; the same source is returned for 2307-0404, with that number as ISSN-L) records 2,402 works for Medicni Perspektivi, all of them open access in its count, with 1,680 citations, an h-index of 13, an i10-index of 23 and a two-year mean citedness of about 0.52; it also records an article-processing price for the source of 1,500 in Ukrainian hryvnia, a figure reproduced here as OpenAlex's record, to be confirmed against the journal's current author information before any payment decision. Scopus-derived summaries report a CiteScore of 0.7, a SCImago Journal Rank of 0.133 and a fourth-quartile position in Medicine (miscellaneous), with Scopus coverage from 2019; the older JournalsWorld template listed an h-index of 10, close to but below the current OpenAlex figure. The journal's own statement of its Web of Science position is the Emerging Sources Citation Index, listed among its indexations. Read together, these figures describe a mid-tier national medical journal with genuine international indexing and a growing citation footprint — not a high-impact international title, and it does not present itself as one, but a recognised, category "A" venue whose metrics have been moving upward.
Indexing and Recognition
The journal's own pages list its indexations as follows: Scopus; the Emerging Sources Citation Index of Web of Science; OUCI, the Open Ukrainian Citation Index; ERIH PLUS; OAJI; Ulrich's Periodicals Directory; OCLC WorldCat; ResearchBib; EBSCO; ProQuest; Crossref; Dimensions; the "Dzherelo" journal of the Institute of Information Registration Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; and the National Library named after V. I. Vernadsky, among others. That list is reproduced here as the journal's own statement; as with any journal, an author with a hard institutional requirement should confirm a specific listing inside the database itself before submitting. Two entries deserve plain explanation for readers outside Ukraine. Category "A" is a Ukrainian national grading, not a publisher's claim: it is conferred by ministerial order and it determines the journal's standing for attestation purposes. And OUCI is a national citation index built on Crossref data, part of Ukraine's deliberate construction of its own scholarly infrastructure — the journal's presence in it, and in the Vernadsky library's systems, is what makes its Ukrainian-language content findable at home.
Editorial Office and People
The journal's home page names its editorial and production staff: language editors M. Yu. Sydora and I. M. Klymenko; design and layout by L. M. Hryhorchuk; bibliographer N. D. Havryliuk; and executive secretary K. V. Sokolova. The name of the editor-in-chief could not be verified from the English-language pages fetched for this profile, and it is therefore not stated here; authors who need it should take it from the journal's current masthead rather than from any directory, this one included. The editorial office address, given on the journal's librarians page, is the editors' office of Medicni Perspektivi at 9 Volodymyra Vernadskoho Street, Dnipro, 49044, Ukraine, with e-mail medpers@dmu.edu.ua. The university's own site, dmu.edu.ua, is linked from the journal's pages as the founder's home. The journal submits its articles to the routines visible on its portal: each article carries its DOI under the 10.26641/2307-0404 prefix, its authors' affiliations and ORCID identifiers, and bilingual presentation — the ordinary, checkable furniture of a journal operating to international publishing standards.
How to Submit
Articles are accepted in electronic form, per the journal's information for authors, through its journal portal presence (journals.uran.ua, under its print ISSN as the portal key) and its own site at medpers.dmu.edu.ua, which invites researchers to submit manuscripts and gives the quarterly rhythm and the two publication languages. Before submitting, an author should do four things. First, match the manuscript to the journal's stated territory — original research on clinical practice, diagnosis or prevention — and write the structured apparatus the journal's articles display. Second, decide the language deliberately: Ukrainian reaches the journal's home readership and attestation audience; English travels through its Scopus and Web of Science indexing. Third, verify any publication charge against the journal's current author information rather than relying on a database figure; OpenAlex's recorded price of 1,500 hryvnia is a starting point for that check, not a substitute for it. Fourth, confirm current indexing in any database on which a degree, a grant report or an institutional assessment depends. The journal's category "A" standing and indexations are stated on its own pages with unusual completeness, which makes those checks straightforward.
Inside an Article: Presentation Standards
A reader who opens any recent article on the journal's portal can see its working standards without taking anyone's word for them. Articles open with full author names, the Dnipro State Medical University affiliation, the street address in Dnipro and, where the author has one, an ORCID identifier printed beside the name. Each article carries its DOI — in the 10.26641/2307-0404 series, which embeds the journal's print ISSN — a keyword set, a structured abstract in the article's language with an English counterpart, and a complete reference list. The asthenia study noted earlier, for example, reports its sample plainly (110 applicants of a preparatory department and 44 students of the first and second courses), names its instrument (the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory, MFI-20), and states its clinical and psychopathological examination method before drawing conclusions about preventive and corrective measures. The noncommunicable-disease study lists its information base — WHO observatory data, national statistics, health-service dashboards and a screened literature of more than seventy publications — in its methods, in the open. This is the house style of a journal whose readers include attestation committees: methods are shown, samples are counted, and instruments are named, because the national system that grades the journal also audits the work published in it.
For Librarians, Indexers and Directory Editors
Cataloguers should note three features of this record that directories have historically garbled, this one included. First, the title: the ISSN title is given by the journal itself as Medičnì perspektivi, the transliterated form in common use is Medicni Perspektivi, and the English rendering is Medical Perspectives; all three name the same serial, and a catalogue that treats them as separate titles will manufacture a duplicate. The twin-check performed for this profile searched the directory under all three forms and found a single record, this one. Second, the founder's name: records created before 2021 name the Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy, and records created since name Dnipro State Medical University; the journal's site documents the 2021 renaming order, and the two names should be filed as one institution across time. Third, the journal's portal key on the Ukrainian journals platform is its print ISSN — the portal address is built on 2307-0404 — while its own domain, medpers.dmu.edu.ua, presents the journal in English and Ukrainian with the online ISSN displayed beside the print one. Its media-entity registration identifier, R30-00972, given on its home page, is the number to quote where a Ukrainian registration reference is required. A directory entry that holds those five facts straight — two ISSNs, three title forms, one founder under two names, the portal key and the registration identifier — will not need correcting again.
Similar and Related Journals
Medicni Perspektivi sits in a recognisable family: the research journals of medical universities in Ukraine and the wider region, quarterly general-medical titles through which university clinicians publish for national attestation and international indexing at once. Within the JournalsWorld directory, its natural neighbours are the other Ukrainian and Eastern European general medical journals of similar Scopus standing — titles whose profiles share its combination of a university publisher, bilingual publication and a public-health strand. What distinguishes this journal within that family is the combination of its age — publishing since 1996, online in full text since 2005 — its category "A" grade, and a host university in Dnipro whose research output gives it a steady supply of clinical material. Authors comparing venues should compare like with like: against other university medical journals, its indexing list, open backfile and recorded citation growth are competitive; against international specialty journals it is not competing, and does not claim to.
