Compare the exact course
Course structure matters when shortlisting Imperial. A three-year bachelor’s and a four-year integrated master’s involve different study commitments and budgets. Use the course page for your entry year rather than relying on a department’s older handbook.
| Selected example | Published duration | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Computing BEng | 3 years | Bachelor’s route; see current entry-year availability |
| Computing MEng | 4 years | Integrated master’s, advanced study and industrial placement |
| Computing: Visual Computing and Robotics MEng | 4 years | Specialist computing route; October 2027 entry |
| Mechanical Engineering MEng | 4 years | October 2027 entry; course code H301 |

2027 applications & entry requirements
Imperial undergraduate applications use UCAS. Academic requirements vary by course and qualification. Check required subjects, grades and the English-language condition against the exact course before submitting.
| 2027 entry route | Published UCAS deadline |
|---|---|
| MBBS Medicine and Graduate Entry Medicine | 15 October 2026 |
| Other undergraduate courses: equal consideration | 13 January 2027 |
Official source: Undergraduate application dates ↗
Example: Mechanical Engineering MEng
The 2027 course page lists a minimum A-level standard of A*A*A or A*AAA, or 40 International Baccalaureate points. The full subject and grade conditions still apply; this headline is not a complete eligibility check.

Admissions tests: register separately
Imperial uses different tests across departments. Registration is with the test provider, so completing UCAS alone does not complete this step.
| Examples of departments or routes | Test listed by Imperial |
|---|---|
| Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Physics | ESAT |
| Computing, Mathematics, Imperial Business School | TMUA |
| Medicine | UCAT |
| Graduate Entry Medicine | GAMSAT or UCAT |
Other departments have different requirements, including some with no admissions test. Confirm your course, required test components, registration deadline and accepted sitting. A high test score does not guarantee an offer.

Organise your preparation
- Create separate reminders for UCAS and test registration.
- Use the provider’s official preparation materials.
- Check identification and test-day requirements.
- Keep your registration confirmation and candidate details.
Tuition & the London study budget
Imperial charges tuition by year. Your fee status, course and entry year affect the amount. Home and Overseas fees must not be treated as interchangeable.
| Category | Published guidance |
|---|---|
| Home undergraduate, 2026–27 | £9,790 for standard full-time study |
| Home undergraduate, 2027–28 | £10,050 published maximum; confirm the course terms |
| Overseas undergraduate | Course-specific amount on the course page |
| Later years and placements | Check annual increases and any placement or overseas-year rate |
Official source: Undergraduate tuition policy ↗
The 2027 Mechanical Engineering page describes the expected Home fee as subject to parliamentary approval. Because wording differs across official pages, confirm the final applicable fee in your course and offer information.

What belongs in your budget?
- Tuition for your course and fee status.
- Accommodation for the full period you need, including any time outside term.
- Food, local travel, study materials and personal spending.
- Arrival costs, travel home and any required immigration-related charges.
No universal Overseas tuition or London living-cost total is supplied here. Use actual course fees and accommodation quotes rather than a guessed average.
Scholarships & research funding
Imperial’s scholarship finder lets you filter by degree level, department, tuition-fee status and other eligibility conditions. It also distinguishes open opportunities from closed awards. Check the relevant academic year before treating an award as available.

For undergraduate research, UROP funding is a separate question from tuition support. Imperial describes bursaries that contribute towards the living costs of research experiences. Eligibility and application steps vary by scheme; the reviewed central page includes summer 2026 awards, which should not be presented as an open 2027 competition.

Research, practical work & careers
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme gives eligible students a route into research with Imperial groups. Imperial describes UROP as an extracurricular educational activity. Its guidance says research experiences undertaken from January 2026 require organised bursary support; personal or family funding does not meet that requirement.

Course-based experience
The Computing MEng combines advanced modules with an industrial placement. Check how placement preparation and selection operate for your entry year.
Career preparation
The Careers Service supports students with advice, employer connections and further-study exploration. JobsLive provides appointments, events and job-search tools.

Accommodation & daily life
Imperial offers a first-year accommodation guarantee to eligible students who meet its conditions, including accepting Imperial as their firm choice and meeting housing deadlines. A guaranteed bed space is not a guarantee of a particular hall or room preference.
The detailed guarantee page reviewed is for 2026–27. Its application dates have passed, so a prospective 2027 student should wait for or request the new cycle’s terms instead of reusing those dates.

Imperial’s accommodation overview describes hall rents as including utilities, internet, basic contents insurance, maintenance and communal cleaning. Compare room costs, contract length and travel to your teaching location before choosing preferences.
