The Scope of the Problem Classification of Overweight and ObesityThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classify obesity according to BMI 1 as summarized in Table 1. 2,2a Among adults, a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 kg/m 2 corresponds to a healthy weight, BMI between 25.0 and 29.9 kg/m 2 is overweight, and BMI of Ն30.0 kg/m 2 is obese.The degree of obesity is classified separately.A BMI of 30.0 toThe American Heart Association makes every effort to avoid any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may arise as a result of an outside relationship or a personal, professional, or business interest of a member of the writing panel.Specifically, all members of the writing group are required to complete and submit a Disclosure Questionnaire showing all such relationships that might be perceived as real or potential conflicts of interest.
